"We wish we would have known..."

One of the most common phrases I hear from couples who have been married within the last few years is...

"We wish we would have known about you when we got married."

I've heard that a lot -- especially from siblings and friends of my clients while I'm shooting a wedding. And I have sort of a conflicted reaction. Part of me knows it's a compliment and I'm flattered by this...while the other part feels bad that they didn't get the right kind of experience with photography from their wedding. And in those situations I don't know whether to try to get them a few extra fun shots at that particular event (to try to make up for their less than ideal experience), or, to kind of act naturally so as not to make them feel any worse! What would you do?

As I've had for the last several years -- I have a limit on the number of weddings that I shoot each year. This year, like last year, it's 15. I feel that if I went over that amount I would never be able to breathe...much less sleep, eat, shoot or edit! Knowing that I can only do so many weddings...let me apologize in advance to the next person or couple that tells me "we wish we would have known about you." I'm really sorry! I'll try to make sure more people know about me! :)

Amanda & Jeff

Amanda and Jeff exchanged their wedding vows on December 30th at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on the campus of Saint Louis University. After the ceremony we were fortunate to be able to go to Grant's Farm for pictures -- the mild temperatures really helped out! Click here to watch their slideshow.

Katheen & Michael Engagement

Kathleen and Michael are getting married in September. They had their engagement session at the end of December. We shot pictures in the Jewel Box and at Art Hill, where, coincidentally, they got engaged!

They are a great couple and I can't wait to shoot their wedding. Here are some of the images from their session...

Annie & Frank

Annie and Frank were married December 2nd at Seven Holy Founders Catholic church. Annie is a childhood friend of Meghan's -- I photographed Meghan's wedding back in June of 2006. Annie and Frank's wedding was a very wild one -- St. Louis had just endured a nasty ice storm 24 hours prior to their wedding and much of the city was without power. Fortunately, the church and reception site did not lose power.

Despite the ice and cold, we ventured down to Busch Stadium for some quick photographs -- the wedding party (bridesmaids especially) were real troopers to tolerate the cold for a few quick photos (all I needed was 1/125th of second, right girls?). Here are some of my favorite images from Annie and Frank's wedding. Click here to enjoy their slideshow.

Erica & Mike Wedding

My long-time friend and co-worker Erica married her sweetheart Mike on November 5th at the DeMenil Mansion. They had a perfect autumn day for a wedding! Maria shot the wedding with me and we both had a blast.
Erica and Mike are such a fun couple and they did all the right things for having a great afternoon wedding and reception. They also were one of very few of my brides and grooms that agreed to see each other before the wedding -- something that makes for awesome "first look" images where the bride and groom first see each other on their wedding date and are allowed some quiet time to be together before their ceremony.
Below are some images from Erica and Mike's wedding day -- and be sure to view their wedding slideshow!

Barb & Tim Wedding

Barb and Tim were married October 28th at The Little Flower Catholic church in Richmond Heights, MO. There were SIX flower girls for the wedding!

Tim went to St. Louis U. High (though he graduated many years after I did) and upon their initial consultation they were suprised to see Tim's picture (from a SLUH reunion) in one of my sample albums! I told them that I planned it that way! :)

They got married the day AFTER the Cardinals won the World Series so it was a party weekend. MANY wedding parties ventured down to Busch Stadium that Saturday...there were almost as many wedding parties there as were at the Grand Basin in Forest Park! What a fun, fun wedding day!

Erica & Mike - Engagement

Erica and Mike's engagement session was done at the Missouri Botanical Garden in October. I've known Erica for over twelve years -- and I'm honored she chose me to photograph her wedding.

Adria & Mike's Wedding

Adria and Mike were married October 14th at the Missouri Botanical Garden. What a gorgeous place to get married (I worked there in high school and college) -- the beautiful bride and groom had wonderful weather for a fall wedding in the garden.

Cindy & John's Wedding

I had the pleasure of photographing Cindy and John's wedding on September 30th at St. Paul's Catholic church in Fenton -- my home parish! After 10 years of being a parishioner at St. Paul's I finally got a chance to work at my own church (for many years brides shyed away from St. Paul's due to the orange carpeting on the walls...they replaced that several years ago!).

Cindy and John's reception was at Sunset Lakes golf course. Click here to enjoy a slideshow of images from their special day.
